  • Opening meetings for greater transparency unless justified as manifestly not in the best interests of the community

  • Clean green policies where quality and delivery is not compromised
  • A zero tolerance for patient and staff intimidation
  • Cooperating with and lobbying central government to solve the social problems of today
  • Celebrating cohesiveness and pride in being New Zealand's premier health board
  • Support advocacy for better health promotion and outcomes
Holistic sensible approach

A holistic sensible approach to the health needs of Auckland by:

  • Being a health board working for the patients, not for ourselves
  • Advocating for fiscal policies that will ensure the long term sustainability of the health system
  • Promoting state of the art patient care, with reduced waiting times
  • Great staff/management relations
  • Recruitment and retention of the best staff
  • Investment in state of the art equipment
  • Importance of core activities over feel-good vote catching initiatives
  • Medical personnel should feature prominently in management and setting the priorities of the health system
  • Meticulous conflict of interest reporting, transparency and accountability
  • Cost effectiveness through a lean efficient bureaucracy
  • Long term sustainable planning for the good of the whole community, not short term planning driven by ideology or the three - yearly election cycle.
